"The All England Lawn Tennis Club Single Handed Champion of the World."
Zoinks, what a day for men's Tennis. Roger Federer won the prestigious Wimbledon cup for the fourth consecutive year defeating Rafael Nadal 6-0, 7-6(5), 6-7(2), 6-3 in just under two hours. This was Federer's eighth Grand Slam victory and 39th career title.
Today Federer became only the sixth man to claim four straight Wimbledon titles and the eighth player to win four or more crowns at the All-England Lawn Tennis Club. He also extended his grass-court winning streak to 48 matches. He definitely seems on track to catch up to, if not pass Sampras', Grand Slam title record.
As an American, though, I think it's too bad that the rivalry between Roddick and Federer that was heating up a couple years ago has seemed to fizzle. Oh well, it's pretty entertaining watching that fiery Spaniard in the clam-diggers.

I think Rafael Nadal's really good. But the pressing issue isn't whether Nadal is going to unseat Federer as the best player in tennis. It's whether or not he will buckle under the weight of his silken black locks. Many long-haired players do: witness McEnroe and Agassi. But a friend of mine pointed out that both Mac and Agassi are Americans; contrariwise, Europeans like Bjorn Borg, Ilie Natase, and Guillermo Vilas kept their tresses for the length of their careers. It's the old Eurohair vs. Americut debate, you've heard it all before. The obvious exception to this rule, as everyone knows, is '88 Wimbledon champ Stefan Edberg who went from legitimate mullet to cleanly shorn during his tenure in the ranks. So the question remains -- will Spaniard Nadal succumb to the barber of Seville? Maybe, maybe not. It's the most exciting question in tennis.
Your 14-year-old daughter sounds really interesting. You should let her post, as your comments were the equivalent of calling someone "dummy." Maybe you should grow up. Or at least make some valid commentary, rather than just criticizing others. Now, speaking of the color of uniforms: Federer and Nadal appear nearly identical on TV -- especially at the monochromatic Wimbledon -- what with their Nike-tagged do-rags. I wish one of them would wear something flashy and handsome. Then I would have a clear favorite. Looking good is half the battle in professional tennis. The other half, of course, is landing the biggest endorsements.
